Hutchison Telephone (Macau) Co Ltd’s chief executive, Ho Wai Ming, is counting on growth in demand for his company’s 3Macau brand as it prepares to enter the market for fourth-generation wireless telecommunications. The company has bid for a 4G licence, and Mr Ho said: “We’re confident that we’re going to get a licence.” He told reporters:“We hope that, with 4G, the number of clients will be boosted because they’ll have a better experience.” Mr Ho added: “For the coming years we expect to push our mobile phone subscriptions, mainly on smartphone handsets. We also want to keep pushing customers to use more mobile data. That is the main area for growth.”
