In the first five months of this year, there were 675 cases of taxis overcharging and 722 cases of refusing to take passengers, Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak said whilst participating in a forum on a local TV programme on Monday. He added that most of the cases were discovered because Public Security Police officers took the initiative to enforce the law. Some audience members phoned the programme saying that some taxi drivers gang up to violate the law.
