AmCham chairman says US investors branching out

The chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Macau, Charles Choy, says US investors in the city are looking into investments in fields other than gaming, in view of efforts to make the economy more diverse, Business Daily reports. The newspaper quotes Mr Choy as saying in an interview that members of his chamber are considering putting money into culture and entertainment, for example. “With effort by some members, and with the economic atmosphere changing, you can bring a lot more – and different types of – tourists. It could bring family tourists: children, young people coming here not for gambling,” he said. “The important thing is that companies are not forcing themselves to do it. They see a need.”
