CEM to lower electricity tariff index

Benefiting from the continued low international fuel prices, local power generating costs have decreased. According to the calculation under the concession contract, the 2nd quarter Tariff Clause Adjustment (TCA) will be lowered to MOP0.36 cents per kWh, according to local sole power distributor CEM – Companhia de Electricidade de Macau.
CEM says it will continue to offer a subsidy to Tariff Group A customers, who are residential and Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) customers accounting for over 99 per cent of the total customer base.
TCA will be reduced from the contractual calculated value of 36 cents to 34 cents per kWh, representing a reduction of 2 cents per kWh. The TCA for Tariff Group B, C and D customers will be at 36 cents per kWh in accordance with the contractual calculated value, 6 cents per kWh lower than in the previous quarter.
