Chance of govt leaks worries oil product importers

Importers of petroleum products are worried that the information they will have to give the government to obtain import permits may be published or leaked. From Monday importers of petroleum products must have permits to bring in such goods. To obtain permits, they must tell the government about the price of their goods and the costs of importing them, including shipping costs. The concern felt by importers was aired at a Macau Economic Services meeting. Macau Fuel Industry Association director Lai Weng Wa said: “The information about prices is very important for the companies and it is confidential. We hope that this information will not be shared.” Macau Economic Services official Fong Ion Leong said the information would be withheld from the public.
