Demand for casino staff to rise 38 pct by 2017

There will be a 38 percent increase in demand for casino workers by 2017, Morgan Stanley says. In a report released yesterday, the investment bank says Cotai’s new casino-resorts will need 32,000 additional staff to complement the city’s current 85,000-strong casino workforce. “We estimate a supply of only 700 local higher-education graduates per year joining the gaming industry and potentially around 1,900 local staff that might be available to transfer internally,” the report says. “This implies a shortfall of around 13,800 local employees”.
