G2E Asia organizer: Opportunity to face challenges

Global Gaming Expo G2E Asia will be an opportunity for the sector to share their experience and vision to face the challenges that the gaming industry in Macau is facing. This opinion was shared by the organiser of the event, Senior Vice President of Reed Exhibitions China, Josephine Lee, yesterday during the presentation of the All Asia Dealers Championship event. “I believe the participants in this year’s edition of G2E Asia will consider how to change and adapt to the current environment. I’ve been reading many news articles about Macau gaming operators and how they face and handle this situation. I can say there’s a lot of wisdom in the way they’re operating. A platform like this usually offers opportunities for operators to learn, share insights and exchange ideas”, Lee said. The Vice President of Reed Exhibitions China also said on the sidelines of the conference about the dealers championship that she is confident about the prospects for the Macau market. “Beside the challenges and the so-called negative sentiment, the development of the projects in Cotai is still going on. People take a long term vision concerning the market, like all the other industries. If you adopt a short term vision then you may expect little earnings, but in the long term we believe that there’s much to gain in Macau if the right direction is adopted and if we’re able to diversify the economy of the city”, she explained. She said that the purpose of the All Asia Dealers Championship event is to recognise the effort and talent needed to perform in this position. From May 19 on, during G2E Asia at The Venetian, fourteen teams comprising over 50 dealers from Macau and other countries such as Cambodia, Singapore and the Philippines will contest the title. “We are organising this competition to recognise the talent, technique and art required to be a dealer. To be a dealer requires more than knowing how to count. Dealers are often on the frontline in casinos. They are the staff meeting the guests. And if they offer a very good experience eventually the clients will come back”, she said. “At the same time, we will provide career development opportunities for the dealers in the industry”.
