Good business for fireworks stallholders

Yesterday was the last day of sales at the special Lunar New Year firecracker markets. Firework stallholders approached by our sister publication Business Daily reported good business, due to the good weather and increased demand by mainland tourists. One firework stallholder, who has 21 years of experience of selling fireworks during the holidays, told Business Daily that his profit had grown by over 50 percent. Another stallholder said that he had recouped his investment of over MOP520,000 (US$65,000) in just four days, leaving two days to make clear profit. Every Lunar New Year, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau designates two areas for selling and setting off fireworks, so residents and visitors can celebrate the holidays safely.
