Japanese firms join forces in Tokyo casino project

Three Japanese conglomerates want to develop a casino-resort complex in Tokyo, the latest sign that the country is preparing to legalise casinos, Reuters reports. The country’s biggest property developer, Mitsui Fudosan Co, media company Fuji Media Holdings Inc and builder Kajima Corp Ltd want to build a complex in Odaiba, by Tokyo Bay, that would include a hotel and conference centre. No details were given. More than 100 lawmakers, many from the governing Liberal Democratic Party, were to meet yesterday to put the finishing touches on a bill that would legalise casinos. They hope to put it before the current parliamentary session that ends next month.
