Macau issues travel alert on South Africa

The city’s Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) issued a travel security alert on South Africa yesterday morning, following the Consulate-Generals of China in Durban and in Johannesburg respectively issuing travel alerts to Chinese nationals there. “GGCT reminds Macau residents who intend to travel to South Africa to closely follow the safety situation, critically assess security risks, and cautiously consider travel plans to South Africa. Macau residents already in South Africa should strengthen security precautions to protect their personal safety and avoid travelling to protest regions and surrounding areas,” the Office wrote. Currently, the African country is undergoing anti-foreigner riots. GGCT had not received any request for information or assistance as at yesterday.
