Macau shows grimmer aspects of growth in 2014

Macau’s population density increased to 20,500 people per square kilometre last year from 19,500 people per square kilometre the year before, official data indicate. The Statistics and Census Service says the city had 566 motor vehicles per kilometre of public road last year, having had 541 vehicles per kilometre the year before. The amount of rubbish Macau threw away grew by 5.4 per cent to 218,987 tonnes. The amount of water the city consumed increased by 6.5 per cent to 229,000 cubic metres per day and the amount of sewage it produced increased by 1 per cent to 216,917 cubic metres per day.
