Macau stuck with reputation as place for day-trips

Macau has failed to shake off its reputation that it is good only for day-trips, an academic research paper says. An assistant professor of gaming and hospitality management at the University of Macau, Glenn McCartney, says in the paper that this reputation persists despite the government’s efforts to make the economy more diverse and bring in more meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions business. “Macau has been unable to lose the image and historical challenge of being considered a day-tripper destination,” the paper says.
