Total merchandise imports by Macau in October grew by 47.1 percent year-on-year to MOP5.45 billion (US$681 million). In the opposite direction, total merchandise exports amounted to only MOP533 million, down by 5.4 percent year-on-year. In the first ten months of 2011, the total value of merchandise exports decreased by 4.5 percent year-on-year to MOP5.59 billion; meanwhile, the total value of merchandise imports increased by 40.8 percent to MOP49.94 billion.
