Only one Macau firm bids for Hengqin plot

Hengqin New Area Administrative Committee director Niu Jing said that just one company has bid for a plot of land reserved for Macau enterprises in the new area, our sister publication Business Daily reports today. Since late last month, the Hengqin administration has put five land parcels up for auction, including the one reserved for Macau enterprises covering 30,000 square metres. By Friday, the Hengqin administration had received at least five bids, Mr Niu told reporters on Saturday. The other four plots range in size from 16,000 square metres to 62,000 square metres and can be used for commercial, office or hotel buildings. The reserve prices could go up as high as 3,350 renminbi (MOP4,291) per square metre, or 4,200 renminbi for the Macau-only plot. The auction ends on Wednesday.
