Politburo gives nod to Guangdong free trade zone

The mainland authorities have formally approved plans for new free trade zones in the northern city of Tianjin and the southern provinces of Fujian and Guangdong, Xinhua reports. The official news agency says the plans were approved by the Communist Party Politburo. Xinhua failed to say when each free trade zone would open. The Guangdong free trade zone is meant to integrate further the economies of the mainland, Hong Kong and Macau. It will comprise Nansha in Guangzhou, Qianhai and Shekou in Shenzhen, and Hengqin in Zhuhai.
