Prices continue to go up

The Consumer Council’s first “Supermarket Price Survey Report” of this year shows that prices are continuing to increase in Macau. Out of 223 samples surveyed, around 30 percent, including rice, cooking oil, sanitary and hygienic products, recorded increases in their average prices in comparison with data from last December. According to the Consumer Council, the average price of many Thai rice brands, an essential part of the Chinese diet, has risen by almost 7 percent. Later today, the Statistics and Census Service is set to announce the inflation rate for the full year of 2010.
