Las Vegas Sands Corp. is accusing former Sands China chief executive officer Steven Jacobs of having stolen sensitive company information from Sands China and Venetian Macao Ltd that he now refuses to return. The information includes various reports and emails, according to Las Vegas Sun newspaper. The charge was made in Clark County District Court on Tuesday by attorneys for Sands. Mr Jacobs’ representatives admit he has company information in hand but stress it was received while he was Sands China’s CEO and was not stolen. “Las Vegas Sands’ suspicions were born out recently when plaintiff’s counsel revealed and explicitly admitted that Jacobs had in his possession approximately 11 gigabytes of documents taken from Las Vegas Sands, Sands China and/or Venetian Macao, including documents that Jacobs admitted were subject to the attorney-client privilege and should properly be returned to Las Vegas Sands,” Sands’ filing said. “After initially agreeing to produce certain potentially privileged documents, Jacobs now refuses to return any documents to Las Vegas Sands.” Las Vegas Sands says it “has serious concerns that Jacobs will disclose company documents that contain personal data in violation of Macau law.” This is the latest episode in the legal saga between Sands and Mr Jacobs, fired from Sands China in 2010.
