Sands China replaces SJM as casino market leader

Sands China Ltd had 25 percent of gaming revenue last month, ousting SJM Holdings Ltd from top spot in the league table of casino operators. Data compiled by our sister publication Business Daily show that SJM Holdings had 22 percent of the casino market, one percentage point less than in January. Of the remaining operators, Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd had a 21-percent market share, Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd had 12 percent, Wynn Macau Ltd had 11 percent and MGM China Holdings Ltd had 9 percent. Macau’s casinos had MOP38.0 billion (US$4.8 billion) in gross gaming revenue last month, 40.3 percent more than a year earlier.
