Sands retorts after union complains about pay

Sands China Ltd has defended its arrangements for paying its employees, after a trade union held a demonstration outside its Sands Macao casino to complain about the company’s treatment of gaming workers. Sands China issued a written statement saying that this year it gave its employees their pay for January earlier than usual, gave them their bonuses in February and gave them a pay increase of 5 per cent in March, and that it recently announced it will give them extra bonuses equivalent to one month’s pay every year until  2017. It says that, taken together, these measures amount to 13.3 per cent more pay for its employees this year.
