Six venues miss cut off for smoking control plans

Eight of the 14 gaming establishments ordered to reduce the size of their smoking zones had submitted plans by yesterday’s deadline, the Health Bureau says. The bureau did not say what action it would take against the six remaining establishments. The 14 casinos and slot machine parlours were found to have substandard air quality during a second round of tests earlier this year. Their penalty is a 10-percent reduction in their floor area dedicated to smokers. Two other slot machine parlours that failed air quality tests have closed for other reasons.
