Surplus in January budget for 2016

Official data shows a surplus in January’s budget for the Central Account of the Government despite the continued fall in overall revenue. According to data published by the Financial Services Bureau (DSF) the budget in January of this year achieved a positive balance of MOP4.8 million (US$0.6 million) with overall expenditure accounting for MOP3.68 million and revenue MOP8.48 million. This represents a 20.3 per cent fall in revenue and a 68.1 per cent rise in spending year-on-year.
Direct taxation on gaming, the largest revenue contributor, accounted for MOP6.74 million, a 20.5 per cent drop compared to last January.
