Tourist arrivals down 6.12 pct y-o-y during New Year Holiday

During the New Year Holiday between January 1 and 2, local border checkpoints registered a drop of 6.12 per cent year-on-year in the total number of tourists visiting the MSAR, down to 318,948. Immigration authorities recorded a total of 997,193 crossings through the seven immigration checkpoints of the MSAR over the two-day period, of which 495,862 were arrivals and 501,331 were departures. Most of the border crossings were registered at the Portas do Cerco Border Gate, which saw a total of 735,448 travellers arriving to and leaving from the territory. The Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal saw the second highest number of crossings recorded during the two-day holiday – amounting to 102,680. Visitors arriving through the Macau International Airport totaled 17,530 during the period, while those departing reached 19,540. The nearby Taipa Temporary Ferry Terminal saw a similar number of arrivals and departures, at 24,680 and 24,902, respectively.
