Unemployment rate drops slightly

Macau’s unemployment rate for September-November 2010 was 2.8 percent, down by 0.1 percentage point over the previous period (August-October 2010). However, the underemployment rate went up by 0.1 percentage point to 1.7 percent. The number of unemployed decreased by about 300 from the previous period to 9,200. 14.6 percent of unemployed were fresh labour force entrants searching for their first job, down by 5.3 percentage points over the previous period. The total labour force was 329,000 and the labour force participation rate stood at 71.2 percent, down by 0.5 percentage points from the previous period.
