A bit too small

The 28th East Asian Insurance Congress is to be held in the MSAR in October; the second time the Congress has been held here since 1998. Speaking at a conference, the President of Macau Insurers’ Association, Jiang Yidao, stated that the local insurance market is too small and restricted by both the territory’s size and population. However competition has helped make the local market healthier. “Macau insurance companies have a good relationship with each other, which makes the market healthy and grow steadily despite the constraints of market size. You hardly hear of anyone losing money here,” said Mr. Jiang.
