Academic wants non-local dealers

With the shortage of manpower, a local academic has suggested that Macau authorities should allow for the hiring of non-local dealers to better manage human resources. Zeng Zhonglu from the Polytechnic Institute says there are over 20,000 croupiers working the gaming floors, accounting for almost half of the total number of casino workers. The academic told Jornal Tribuna de Macau that this would be essential for competition, and by allowing imported workers to deal cards, domestic dealers could also make their way up the ladder. But chief executive Fernando Chui Sai On has said that during his term in office, he does not plan to authorise imported workers to take up the role of croupiers.
