Adelson takes home US$14 million in 2011

Sheldon Adelson’s compensation package from Las Vegas Sands Corp reached US$13.8 million (MOP110.4 million) last year. Mr Adelson, who is the company’s chairman, chief executive and treasurer, saw his compensation go up by 22 percent year on year, according to a Friday proxy filing. However Mr Adelson is not the best paid executive at Las Vegas Sands. For the second year in a row, Michael A. Leven surpassed him. Mr Leven, who is Las Vegas Sands president, chief operating officer and secretary, took home US$23.5 million, an increase of 92 percent over 2010. Mr Leven further hit the jackpot, as he also gained last year a total of US$71.4 million from exercising previously awarded stock options. The two executives’ compensation packages include salary, stock awards, option awards and incentive compensation, plus other types of compensation.
