Las Vegas Sands Corp boss Sheldon Adelson has said he hopes a visit to his Singapore casino-resort by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will speed up the legalisation of casinos in Japan, Bloomberg reports. The news agency quotes Mr Adelson as saying the prime minister will tour the Marina Bay Sands casino-resort in Singapore on May 30 and get a “scripted plea” to push for legalisation. The Wall Street Journal reports that Japanese lobbyists and lawmakers believe it will be nearly impossible for parliament in Tokyo to pass the legalisation bill before the parliamentary session ends on June 22. Bloomberg quotes Mr Adelson as saying that parliament may instead pass the bill between September and December. Las Vegas Sands is a parent company of Sands China Ltd.
