Alvin Chau Cheok Wa, boss and chairman of the city’s largest junket operator, Suncity Group, has been appointed by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam Chon Weng, as a member of the Cultural Industry Committee (CIC), according to the Official Gazette released yesterday. Replacing architect Carlos Alberto dos Santos Merreiros on the Committee, Mr. Chau’s term will last for two years. In fact, Secretary Tam told local broadcaster TDM Radio that Mr. Chau is an appropriate candidate for the Committee due to his experiences in the film industry. The Suncity boss runs production company Sun Entertainment Culture Limited in Hong Kong.
