Analysts gloomy about gaming revenue, earnings

The trend is for annual growth in Macau’s gaming revenue to be between 1 percent and 5 percent this month, Wells Fargo says. The stockbroker expects casinos to have less business this month because the month has a lot of weekdays and because the football World Cup may distract gamblers. For similar reasons, Morgan Stanley forecasts a quarterly fall of 4 percent in the earnings of Macau casino operators in the second quarter of this year, the first quarterly fall since 2009. Deutsche Bank has lowered its forecast of annual growth in gaming revenue this year to 12 percent from 15 percent. Sterne Agee says the consensus forecast is now for annual growth of about 11 percent instead of 15 percent or 16 percent.
