Banco Nacional Ultramarino SA (BNU) was the biggest foreign contributor to the earnings of parent company Caixa Geral de DepĆ³sitos SA in the first half of this year. A filing to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission says BNU made a first-half profit of 18.7 million euros (MOP198 million), our sister publication Business Daily reports. Lending at the end of June was 97.1 million euros, 6.7 percent higher than at the end of December. BNUās profit last year grew by 0.5 percent to MOP327.1 million.
