Govt expects another fall in gaming revenue

The government expects gross gaming revenue in Macau’s casinos to be lower this month than a year ago, Secretary of the Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac has said. “GGR reached MOP38 billion [about US$4.75] in February 2014. We estimate that GGR [this month] will not be as high, as MOP38 billion in GGR was the highest that Macau has registered,” Mr Leong said on the sidelines of a gathering at the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau. The head of the liaison office, Li Gang, said the slump in gaming was to be expected. “The gaming industry has entered an interim development period, Mr Li said. “In this situation, I think it’s normal that GGR has dropped for months in a row.”
