Las Vegas court asked to open up secret documents

The court trying the wrongful dismissal case brought against casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp by the former chief executive of the company’s Macau arm, Steven Jacobs, has been asked to reveal the contents of documents that the judge is keeping secret, the Las Vegas Review Journal reports. The newspaper says the Guardian, a British newspaper, and the pressure group Campaign for Accountability have separately requested that the court in Las Vegas open the documents to public view. The Las Vegas Review Journal says the contents may shed light on connections, if any, between Macau casino operators and triads. Mr Jacobs alleges that he was dismissed from Sands China Ltd for refusing to obey instructions to find information about senior officials of the Macau government that could be used to exert undue influence on them. Las Vegas Sands denies the allegation.
