More banks abolish inactive account charges

At least three banks have now stopped charging fees for bank accounts that are inactive. Our sister publication Business Daily quotes Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) Ltd and Tai Fung Bank Ltd as saying they abolished charges for dormant accounts at the beginning of this year. Bank of China Ltd’s Macau branch had already said it had scrapped such charges. Banks consider an account without any deposits or withdrawals for more than a year to be inactive. The fee charged varies from bank to bank.
