Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac has appointed Ieong Meng Chao as the new director of the city’s Statistics and Census Services (DSEC), it was announced in the Official Gazette yesterday. According to the announcement, Mr. Ieong’s term as DSEC head will last for one year. In fact, Mr. Ieong has served the Bureau since 1985. Between 2009 and 2014, he was the vice head of DSEC and was promoted in October 2014 to acting head of the government department. The Secretary wrote in the dispatch that the resume of Mr. Ieong showed that the new director possesses the professional ability and talents required to lead the DSEC.
