Pataca weakens in May for second month in a row

The index of the trade-weighted effective exchange rate of the pataca fell to 103.77 points last month, 1.09 points less than the month before, declining for the second month in a row, the Monetary Authority of Macau says. The index is a gauge of the pataca’s value against the currencies of Macau’s main trading partners. The authority’s data indicate that despite the recent falls in the index, the pataca’s value is still near its highest for five years.
