Portugal: TAP confirms repatriation flight from Bissau Wednesday

Portuguese flag-carrier TAP confirmed in Bissau to Lusa that there will be a flight late on Wednesday and it will start contacting the Portuguese passengers who are to travel on that plane.

The airline is also preparing more flights for this week and next, to help around 700 Portuguese and European citizens who want to return home.

Wednesday’s flight will carry people who already had tickets back that coincided with the closure of borders in Guinea-Bissau, medical cases, pregnant women and various urgent situations.

The Guinea-Bissau authorities decided last week to close the borders, with the exception of supplies of essential necessities and medical emergencies, as part of the fight against the new coronavirus.

The authorities also closed public and private schools, national markets and all businesses that do not provide basic necessities.

It was also decided to close places of worship, namely on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, swimming pools, beaches and leisure and sports complexes.

Guinea-Bissau has no confirmed cases of Covid-19, but has seen five suspicious cases.

For matters related to the outbreak of Covid-19, Portuguese citizens should contact the Portuguese Embassy at [email protected].

The ministry of foreign affairs has created the Covid-19 emergency line to support Portuguese citizens who are temporarily abroad. The Portuguese can contact the service through the email [email protected] or the telephone line +351 217929755 between 09:00 and 17:00 and the Consular Emergency Office, which operates 24 hours a day.
