Wynn Palace remodelling may take up to 18 months

New construction efforts to change Wynn Palace’s gaming floor, reducing the floor area but maintaining table count, could bear fruit as soon as six months from now, with full remodelling works to take up to 18 months, according to Morningstar analyst Chelsey Tam, as quoted by GGRAsia.
The construction is aimed at compressing the ‘energy’ of the casino space, to appeal to more mass-market players.
“The group is carving out a section of the casino floor of Wynn Palace for construction of a casual dining area, which we expect will match customers’ demands better, as some hard-core gamblers are more likely to be interested in eating quickly and returning to the gaming tables,” Tam states, reiterating a previous Morningstar analyst comment regarding the increase in dining options aimed at appealing to mass clientele.
“We think Wynn Palace’s ramp-up will increase gradually in the near term,” comments the analysts, “thanks to increased marketing efforts and enhanced connectivity via the bus programmes.”
The analyst’s comments on the presence of “aggressive marketing” efforts at the property, given the current physical hindrances brought about by nearby construction and difficulty of entry compared to some of the other properties on the Cotai Strip.
Other efforts include room rate reduction and loyalty programmes as well as baccarat and poker tournaments.
“We have seen a reduction in room rates, with promotional offers as low as HK$1,019 (US$127.4),” Tam notes. “We have also seen a lucky draw to attract players and free chips for registration.” The analyst quotes a 71 per cent occupancy rate for the first 39 days of opening, with efforts aimed at expanding the customer database by filling rooms, as well as increased shuttle services to bus clients to the property.
